Dolphins win with depleated offensive line

On Sunday the Miami Dolphins took the field with a new looking offensive line. Two players were called up from the practice squad and a back up was put in place to fill all the wholes that were opened up by Johnathan Martin, Richie Incognito, and Mike Pouncey. With the Dolphins in the hunt for a wild card spot the team was in need of offensive linemen that could step and fill the rules of the starters and they did not disappoint against the San Diego Chargers. The back up guard was an undrafted rookie Sam Brenner that impressed the team by giving Tannehill plenty of time to throw. Also Nate Garner moved from guard to center to replace Mike Pouncey who was out with an illness. With the depleted line the Dolphins look to stay in the hunt next Sunday against the Carolina Panthers who just won against the New England Patriots.

Pittsburgh Penguins Lose First Home Game of Regular Season

Last night the Pittsburgh Penguins lost their first home game since the start of the regular season to the Colorado Avalanche. The game started off slow with each team trading chances and not scoring till the second period when Gabriel Landeskog ripped a shot past Penguins goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury. After that Colorado's goaltender Jean Sebastian Giguere kept his team in the lead with some spectacular saves. With just over seven minutes to play Sidney Crosby and Chris Kunitz went down the ice on a two on one, Crosby passed it over to Kunitz and he nearly scored but Giguere stopped him with a glove save. The Penguins never did recover and the game ended Colorado 1 Pittsburgh 0.

Philadelphia Flyers Oust Peter Laviolette

After the Flyers fell to 0-3 at the beginning of the NHL season Flyers General Manager Paul Holmgren fired Peter Laviolette. Mr. Holmgren said "he decided to go with his gut" he thought that Coach Berube would be the next best coach for his team. Berube has been with the Flyers since 2004 as an assistant coach of the minor league affiliate the Philadelphia Phantoms. I guess we will see if the coaching change turns the Philadelphia Flyers around.
